Changing Lives Through Music: A Special Guitar Donation to Building Hope
Updated: Oct 14
Music has the incredible power to inspire, connect communities, and create opportunities that can change lives. For the past nine years, I've had the incredible privilege of partnering with Instruments for Joy, a Nashville-based organization, to bring the gift of music to communities in South Africa and Greenville, North Carolina. What began as a shared passion for making music accessible has grown into a meaningful partnership, helping place guitars into the hands of those who might otherwise never have the opportunity to own an instrument. From South Africa to Eastern North Carolina, this journey has been a beautiful reminder that music knows no borders. It's about bringing people together, inspiring hope, and creating opportunities for the next generation, one instrument at a time.
Today, we had the wonderful privilege of donating a beautiful Les Paul guitar to Building Hope Community Life Center in Greenville, North Carolina, made possible through the generosity of Instruments for Joy, based in Nashville, Tennessee.
For 25 years, Building Hope has been making a meaningful difference in Greenville and Pitt County, providing young people with educational opportunities, mentorship, and programs designed to help them reach their full potential. Since its founding in 2001, the organization reports having served more than 5,000 children and families, demonstrating its lasting commitment to the community.

The donated guitar will support Building Hope's STEAM program, which brings together Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Through music and creative expression, children have opportunities to discover new talents, build confidence, and explore possibilities beyond the classroom. Special thanks to Renee Cairns, Development Director at Building Hope, for helping facilitate this meaningful donation.
A Gift That Keeps Giving
A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Instruments for Joy for their generosity, continued partnership, and unwavering commitment to making a difference through music. Special appreciation also goes to Building Hope for the remarkable work they continue to do in Greenville, investing in young people and creating opportunities for the next generation.
This donation is more than the gift of a guitar. It represents the possibility of discovering a new talent, building confidence, and inspiring a young person to dream beyond their circumstances.
Sometimes, all it takes is one instrument, one opportunity, and someone who believes in a child's potential.
Here's to continuing to spread hope, inspire creativity, and change lives, one instrument at a time.
